Comedy and Hypnosis – Why I Do What I Do

Jan 23, 2015

I do this (this comedy and stage hypnosis thing) because it’s what I believe I was meant to do.

And, of course I also do it because people pay me to do it.

However, there’s another reason, and it’s the reason I have to be reminded of sometimes. Like I was reminded the other night at Comedy Works in Denver, CO.

After the very lightly attended show (Tuesday nights are a hard sell), as I was manning my souvenir stand, a gentleman named Arthur came up to me. He said, “You have a gift. (I thought he wanted something for free!) I asked what he meant. He told me that I had the gift of making people laugh, and that laughter was good for your health and your soul.

Well, I’m not sure about the “gift” part. Sometimes I view this path as a curse. But Arthur was right about the second part of his statement: Laughter IS good for your health and your soul.

So step out this week and get a healthy dose of laughter, whether you see a funny movie, hang out with friends who you share a laugh with, or attend a professional comedy show. (Hopefully mine!) It’ll be good for your health and your soul.
